Cabin crew : A career


Just like the profession of pilot, that of air hostess and steward is still the dream job for a whole generation of young people and remains as coveted as ever.


Airhostesses and stewards are Commercial Navigation Personnel. Out of all the staff of an airline, Cabin Crew are most often in contact with passengers. Therefore their role is very important as they represent the airline company's reflection.

Their principal roles include :


Passengers safety: safety (standard and emergency) procedures, demonstrations and equipment use Commercial services to passengers: on-board services, passengers comfort and welfare

The pre-requirement to get this job is to obtain the Safety and Rescue Certificate (Certificat de Formation à la Sécurité (CFS)), a State diploma approved by the DGAC.

A French airline company's general pre-requirements:

  • Bac level - Physical and mental aptitude certificate (medical check-up)
  • Be at least 18 years old - Fluency in English
  • Excellent presentation

 

PROFESSIONAL CAREER:


Cabin crew will be able to work within a scheduled, regional, charter or business airline company and on small, medium or long-range networks.

Those who wish to advance their careers may gain access to positions of responsibility such as Flight Attendant in chief, Main Flight Attendant in chief, Instructor, or Executive.
